GENETIC RESOURCES OF CAROB TREE (CERATONIA SILIQUA L.) IN ALGERIA: INSIGHT FROM POD AND SEED MORPHOLOGY

KOCHERANE Rima , KROUCHI Fazia  and DERRIDJ Arezki

Abstract

Description of the subject. In Algeria, the carob tree extends over a large area from East to West. Yet data on the pattern of morphological variation of its pods and seeds across such area are lacking, despite the usefulness of a good understanding of intraspecific variation of such traits for domestication, conservation and sustainable management purposes.

Objective: The present study aims at describing morphological variation in pod and seed traits … La suite

CHARACTERIZATION OF 7 VICIA L. TAXA FROM ALGERIA BASED ON EVIDENCE FROM MORPHOLOGY AND ECOGEOGRAPHY

BECHKRI Sakina, BOUTEKRABT Lynda et KHELIFI Douadi

Abstract

Description of the subject: The genetic diversity of a vetch collection collected in Algeria was assessed by the variation of 78 plant morphological characters and 5ecogeographic parameters of the collection stations. 37 accessions belonging to 7 taxa of the genus Vicia L. were the subject of this study

Objective: Characterize the accessions using two different markers and then correlate their results. In parallel, the results are used in the taxonomy and phylogeny … La suite
