PRODUCTION OF VEGETATIVE TOMATO PLANTS IN A SALIN BIOTOPE

 Abstract

Description of the subject: The salinity of irrigation water is a very widespread problem in the arid and arid zones of Algeria.

Objectives: In order to determine the best nutrient solution for the production of tomato plants a test was carried out.

Methods: We fed tomato plants with natural saline alone and another with liquid antistress (10% fertiactyl)

Results: Plants fed with saline combined with 10% fertiactyl are more efficient than those fed with saline alone. On the other hand, the availability of hybrid seeds and their high cost are limiting the development of the tomato crop.

Conclusion: In order to reduce imports of hybrid seeds, we have vegetative propagated a tomato hybrid (Toufane). The results obtained showed that the axillary buds give tomato plants which show a normal development with respect to the mother plants.
